My top 10 Winter Warmers

Hi, I'm Kayleigh from Kayleigh Marie. The lovely Frances has kindly let me write this guest post for her blog so let's get stuck in...

In no particular order here are my top ten winter warmers/tips for all of us dealing with colder climates at the moment.

1. Gloves
Bit of an obvious one, everyone has a pair of gloves and luckily they come in all shapes, sizes and colours to suit everyone! I opt for fingerless gloves these days, especially with a touch screen phone - try using one with gloves on, you can't!

2. Scarves
Another obvious one but also a versatile one. There are so many different types of scarves and so many different ways to wear or tie them. Scarves are especially perfect if you don't have a huge winter coat, you can use a big fluffy scarf to keep you extra warm.

3. Layering tops
If you don't have an extensive winter wardrobe or find yourself running out of jumpers half way through the week then layer what you do have. Not only will this save money if you're pockets are a bit tight but you can make some fabulous new outfits by layering up different tops.

4. Thick leggings/tights
Leggings or tights are a wardrobe essential for any time of year in my opinion but especially in the winter if you get some nice thick ones. Obviously you can wear these as part of your outfit that everyone sees or on those especially cold days your can wear a pair under your jeans or trousers to keep your legs extra warm this winter!

5. Fluffy/thick socks
I love fluffy socks and I'm wearing a pair at all times at the moment, even to bed! If you're wearing an outfit that doesn't show your socks then go for it! Wear those 'bed socks' all day everyday, I do and I love it, my feet are nice and toasty!

6. Ear muffs
I always associate ear muffs with little children or Mickey Mouse - they remind me of him in a strange way. But if you can wear them and rock them with style then go for it, no one likes cold ears.

7. Hats
Hats are another obvious one and can also be found in many different styles and colours. My favourite for winter are trapper hats, I have one myself and I can't get enough of it, it's so warm and cosy that when I get in from the cold I never want to take it off. Definentely a good investment if you don't mind 'hat hair.'

8. Boots
Big chunky winter boots with furry lining are a favourite of mine. I'm not keen on UGG boots although they seem to be everywhere and have been for a couple of years now. I think a nice good pair of winter boots are a must especially if you're living in England with all this rain!

9. Thermal vest/undies
This is one for those extremelly cold days or if you're living or visiting somewhere especially cold. Don't knock them until you try them, a cosy thermal vest might just stop you catching cold one day and no one will ever know what you have under that gorgeous blouse!

10. Winter coat
The most obvious of them all so I saved it for last. You only need one good winter coat, if you're on a tight budget then make sure it's nothing too fancy, chose a classic design in a neutral colour so you can wear it with anything and it will last you for years to come. This is one area that I don't mind spending a bit of money, it's not worth buying a cheap coat that won't keep you warm and that will need replacing quickly.

Keep warm!
