Review: O.P.I Original Nail Envy

When I was younger I was a nail biter. Even though I have kicked the habit now, it left me with brittle, peeling nails that wouldn't grow very long before they broke. I have tried many different nail strengtheners in the past but I never felt that they really made a difference, I was very sceptical that layering what is essentially a clear nail polish on your nails could possible have any strengthening properties. That is why although I have seen quite a few people rave about O.P.I's Nail Envy, I never tried it myself, £18.50 seemed a ridiculous price to pay for something that might not work. However, I took the plunge when I spotted O.P.I Original Nail Envy on BuyaPowa at just £8.50

The packaging is just the same as all standard O.P.I nail polishes and you get 15ml of product. You use it by painting two layers on to clean nails, and then adding another layer over the top every other day for one week. When the week has passed, you remove it all and start again. The packaging also says that you can wear this under your regular nail polish.

I have been using this for the past four weeks, alternating between bare nails and underneath my nail polish.

I am very pleased with the results, I can definitely say that I can notice a difference, my nails don't bend as easily when I gently push on them. As a result, my nails have been growing a bit better, and not breaking off when they get to a certain length. I am not saying that my nails do not break at all, however, this is not an all-powerful wonder product, but it certainly is good.

I still think that £18.50 is a steep price to pay, but if you scour eBay and Amazon you can find it a lot cheaper. Also, keep an eye on BuyaPowa, as I believe it has been on there a couple of times.

Have you tried O.P.I Nail Envy?

  10. My nails are often really weak but grow so quickly, I'm trying to build up strength in them and to be honest I think I notice the most change in them when I am eating better and cutting out the rubbish, same for my skin!
