Review and Swatches: Sigma Bare Eyeshadow Palette

This is another one of the lovely prizes I received from Lina in her Holiday Giveaway (thank you so much, Lina!); the Bare Eyeshadow Palette by Sigma. I had always wanted to try some of the products and brushes from Sigma but was always put off by the fact that they are US based and the shipping costs can be quite steep, so I was so happy when I won this.

I think the packaging is very sleek and pretty, Sigma have recently redesigned the packaging so that it is slimmer. There is a mirror on the inside of the lid and the palette includes a double ended eyeshadow brush which makes it perfect for travelling with. However, with the box being made from card, I imagine it will start to look battered after a while.

I feel less pushed towards buying the Urban Decay Naked or Naked 2 palettes now, as this palette along with my MUA Heaven and Earth palette gives me a good range of neutral eyeshadows to work with. What I especially like about this palette is that half of the colours are matte, which is what my Heaven and Earth palette lacks.

I will not lie, the quality of the Sigma eyeshadows is not quite up to par with their brushes; of course the double ended E30 and E25 brush that came with the palette is really good, perfect for precise application in the crease and corners of the eye lid and also for blending.
The eyeshadows aren't as pigmented as a lot of other brands are, the swatches below show a couple of swipes of each colour; the blacks are the ones I am most disappointed with. That being said, they aren't too bad, they could be a lot worse and can be layered up to achieve a better colour. I am most impressed with the shade Elope, this one is probably the most pigmented of the lot, which is a surprise considering it is such a pale colour. However, when used right and layered up a little bit, these are all very beautiful colours.

The Sigma Bare palette can be bought online at the Sigma website for $35.00. They do ship internationally but it you are not in the US, you might want to wait until Sigma offer free international delivery, which I have seen them do a couple of times!

Do you have this palette? What do you think?
